The Historical Centre Wuppertal, comprising the Engels-House, the Museum of Early Industrialization and the Manuelskotten, plays an important and essential role in the cultural and educational scene of Wuppertal. It preserves, cultivates and presents the monuments of the industrial revolution, leaving its marks on the city’s identity and its citizens until today.
1995 a museums association has been established to support the Historical Centre’ s work with numerous projects:

  • Film modules didactically edited on life and works of Friedrich Engels
  • Exploration of the history of early industrialization and its importance for current and future development of Wuppertal
  • Acquisition of historical original exhibits, for example  2011 a Balancier steam engine,  to complete the permanent display in the Museum of Early Industrialization
  • Events, exhibitions and publications
  • Support of changing exhibitions
  • Improvement of exhibitions technique
  • Cooperation with  municipal cultural and educational institutions, especially with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal
